It is true that there are some changes that affect our sexual functioning as we age .For most women, estrogen and progesterone levels drop during their menopause in their 40s and 50s,owing to which, women gradually stop menstruating. Some women also experience a drop in testosterone which is responsible for sexual desire.when these hormones decline in a woman, she is likely to experience vaginal dryness, irritation and possibly,a diminishing of sexual desire and response at this time of her life, unless she undergoes hormone replacement therapy(HRT).Getting a complete hormonal evaluation done, exercising the pubo-coccygeal muscles, keeping yourself physically fit, using a vaginal lubricant during intercourse, and staying sexually active are the ways to subvert the changes of ageing.
